La Madre Mountain at Red Rock National Park - May 9th
This was one of the longest hikes I've been on thus far and it was totally worth it! It was sunny, cloudy, rainy, and spectacular. There is just something about being away from the city in the quiet wilderness full of color and life. It was a great afternoon with our great friends, Chris and Lacey...full of meaningful conversation, laughter, and enlightenment.
Mary Jane Falls at Mount Charleston, Elevation 9,270 feet - May 25th
This was a spur of the moment decision for Thomas and I. We had heard good things about the Mary Jane hike and thought we would give it a try. The part that everyone left out was the thirteen switchbacks! (Kind of a big deal, people!) After getting to the top and feeling accomplished, we saw the trickle of the falls, ate some snacks and headed back down. It was hard but so, so good.
Toiyabe National Forest near Mount Charleston - May 31st
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, Lacey, Thomas, Amy, Riley and I made our way to the mountains to get out of the heat. It was a gorgeous day, I only wish I had taken more pictures of all of us that day...
