ESCAPING THE HEAT

Thank goodness for pools!

I've never really like swimming. I'm sure it goes back to my childhood days where we had swim lessons as a part of curriculum in elementary school in Utah. I didn't get along with the teacher and I was always suffering with ear infections, so let's just say it's not a favorite past time.

Anyway, even now, I'm not a fan of being wet and chemically covered, but in this Vegas heat...I'm grateful for friends with a pool. I'm also grateful to live so close to mountains that quickly elevate and bring the temperature down within minutes. Father's Day weekend we took a drive to the ski resort at Mount Charleston and rode the lift to the top.  It was warm, but not hot, and it was quiet but not silent. The perfect afternoon retreat. I thought it to myself (and Thomas even mentioned it too) that my dad was really enjoy being up there and that I wanted to bring him. I'm sure he was more on my mind because of Father's Day, but still...you're coming up here some day Dad! :)
