Can you believe this amazingness is only twenty minutes from my house?! I had no idea how incredible Nevada country was! I have had many people tell me how much they love Red Rock National Park, but it was still much more than I expected!
Lacey and my new friend Niki and I hiked the Calico Hill trail yesterday...through soft red sand and up, over, and around beautiful, red and white boulders. It was just what I needed...sunshine, heat, good friends, dirt under the nails, sweat, and all.
Even though I'm new to this desert living, I have always had a love for the red rocks. I'm not sure if it's because it's different and new to me, but I cannot get enough of it. I'm sure this is only the beginning of many more red rock adventures!
Also, a couple of weekends ago we hit up the Clark County fair!! Yes, in April.
It was in this little town that I didn't even know existed between Mesquite and Las Vegas. We spent the evening eating corn on the cob, whipped cream and strawberry topped funnel cakes, and cotton candy. Chris even took me back to my 4-H roots by scheduling a visit to the bunny showmanship presentation.
It was so much like good 'ol Idaho I could almost/literally taste it!
