CHAPTER 18 - CAPTURED HAPPINESS

After the big engagement we sat down with both sets of parents and talked about possible wedding dates. It took a while as we considered the family and extended family's schedules. At the end of the discussion we had two days to decide between: A day in July and a day August. Thomas and I asked to be excused to the front porch to make the final decision. Even though it was only nine weeks away and we knew it would be crazy, we decided on July 11, 2007. I don't think our parents thought we would select it, or probably hoped that we wouldn't so we would have more time. Their jaws slightly dropped when we came back to them with the decision.

From that moment on it was all we ever did...or should have been doing. I worked from 7:00-4:00 in Idaho Falls and Thomas was working swing shifts durning that time, so when we had a few hours to be together, it's where we were. I know I wasn't being very considerate of my mother's time, since she needed me for wedding planning too, but I was swept away in love.

On a beautiful evening at the beginning of June, Thomas picked me up from work in and we drove to meet our photographer Whitney at The Gardens on the BYU-Idaho campus. My mother and I had carefully planned the outfits to match the wedding colors I had selected: celadon green, brown, and white. I wanted a very elegant, yet naturalistic / garden party feel for our wedding and reception. As cheesy as it may seem, I loved that we incorporated the theme throughout all of the aspects of wedding.

We both felt a little awkward and uncomfortable in front of the camera, but as time went on, we were able to laugh and have a little fun with it. At the end of the day, we had a blast (as you will see). I will always remember that day being full of bliss and happiness. I'm so grateful to have been able to capture the true feelings of that day on camera.

(PS That's why you should always invest in a good photographer for your wedding...pictures are the only things that really capture and keep the greatness of a moment or a day for years and years).

and just for kicks...
