CHAPTER 17 - MAY DAY...

please do before jumping into this post. Thanks!

It was seven years ago today, May 1, 2007. I had finished a long day at Melaleuca's call center when Thomas called and invited me to dinner at Winger's. That boy knew the way to my heart. ;)  I was so hungry that I ate my whole salad and half of his meal. I didn't even realize that he had hardly touched his food.

As we left the restaurant and headed down East Airport Road, we slowed and made a left turn into Blackfoot's airport. At that moment I knew that this wasn't going to be a regular evening together. We pulled into the parking lot and walked towards a pilot and his humming airplane. We got in and flew over the beautiful river and my house and headed towards Idaho Falls.

We circled the Idaho Falls Temple, the river crashing over the falls, the main streets, and more, and then turned to go home. As we entered Blackfoot, Thomas asked the pilot if we could fly over his house before landing. Just before reaching his house I looked down and immediately lost my breath. There were lights on the ground. Those lights were candles..and those candles spelled out something...

"CALEY WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

I started giggling and turned back towards Thomas. By that point he had pulled out the ring and was waiting with a big smile on his face. Of course I said yes and he put the ring on my finger.

We landed and thanked the pilot for the wonderful ride. Right before we reached the car, he turned around and got on his knee to officially ask me to be his wife. I giggled "yes" and pulled him up off his knees to give him a hug and a kiss. I couldn't believe what had just happened. He had successfully surprised me and what was even more impressive was the thought that went into it.

If you recall, our first official date was prom...and we flew over Blackfoot in an airplane... I know. He's a stud. ;)

We decided that we ought to stop by the elementary school where our friends and family had set up the candles and tell them the good news. I was still in such a shock that I hardly knew what to say or do. I mostly just stuck out my hand for them to "ahh" at the beautiful ring. Thomas had purchased my favorite one and I was proud to call him my fiance!

Little did I know that my surprises would keep on coming. When I got home, there were more waiting for me in my room.

I think I will let this series of pictures tell this part of the story...

Yeah...it was a pretty amazing day!

Thanks again to everyone who helped make it so special!
Happy May 1st Anniversary, Thomas!

  1. That was such a fun day! I forgot about Brent and David helping with balloons, and how little Emily was, and young everyone looked!
