Honestly, I'm ready to wave goodbye to 2013...I have been for a while now. It was a pretty good year, just a few bumps and bruises (literally) towards the end. I'm anxious to begin a new year with a clean slate. But before I do, I want to highlight a few of my favorite things we did this year...mostly so I can end on a positive note...so humor me, okay? ;)
Internship at the LDS Church
Yep, you guessed it! This was a huge part of my 2013. Even though it only ended in September, it feels like it was eons ago. I learned so many incredible things about myself, about design, and about the church at that job. I think about it every day and wish I could still be there. I will be forever grateful for the time I spent there and the people I met there. I have been changed for the better because of them.
Trip to St. George
On a whim, Thomas and I made a much needed escape to the desert last February. We relaxed, toured some Parade of Homes, met up with friends, and overall, just had a getaway for the two of us. Hopefully we can make this a yearly trip, especially in the dead of winter.

Trip to Las Vegas
Over Memorial Day weekend we headed south again to visit our friends the Rahmigs. They were the best hostesses and took us all over the place...even the crazy strip on the busiest day of the year! We tried sushi for the first time, went shopping, to a baseball game, and relaxed by the pool. Again...another much needed trip. (PS, Lacey, we're coming again soon...)
Trip to St. George, again
At the end of July we met family in St George for a reunion and a wedding. (Maybe we should consider moving south...). We spent time visiting, swimming, playing games, shopping, eating, and laughing...a typical Porter reunion. :)

Christmas
We spent a FULL week Idaho for Christmas! I'm so grateful that we were able to get time off work and be with family that we see only once or twice a year. Kyle, Veronica and Cora came from Kentucky, Marisa and Doug came from Arkansas, and all of the other kids in the area filled my in-laws house to the brim. It was so, so fun!
PS that doll to the left is Miss Cora. She kept us thoroughly entertained. I didn't take very many pictures like I usually do, but between all the adults, I figured there were some good moments captured. It was kind of nice just being in the moment instead of trying to take pictures all of time. Here she is modeling her "noodle necklace" and I just couldn't resist those big brown eyes so I had to steal a picture before she moved again.
Last Thursday we saw "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and loved it! It was very well done and had a message that I needed to hear. It motivated me to take this new year by the horns and be in control of my life instead of letting it control me. I've made some pretty big goals for myself for 2014 and I'm excited to start moving in a positive direction again.
So adios to 2013 and cheers to a great 2014!
