from brown, to red, to auburn

This past week I did something crazy.

Tuesday I went to Rexburg for a hair appointment while Thomas was at class (I had attacked my bangs with the scissors again...enough said). As I was getting my hair and bangs trimmed, the girl cutting it for me asked me if I had ever considered going red. "RED??" I said. She then proceeded to tell me about my red under-tones and how it would be perfect with my skin. I had seen some red in my hair in the sun before, but I'd never considered going red. It scared me.

So that afternoon, I googled/pinterested a bunch of photos. I looked at dark brown hair (that was my first idea) then red, then auburn. Thomas and I decided that auburn was the best choice...not quite as red and not quite as scary.

That night I had my friend Lacey help with the transformation. As I was combing it out after the rinse, I saw the roots. They looked orange. I just about freaked out! But, as I started to blow-dry it, the color came alive...

So far, I'm loving it. Every once in a while I have to do a double-take in the mirror, but I'm getting used to it. My grandma just loved it...I guess the natural redness comes from her family. The ladies at the temple loved it too.

Who knew?

  4. i love it too! I've actually been thinking of going red lately myself. My hair pulls red with just about any color they put in, so i've been thinking, why not do it on purpose?
    You're adorable!
Oh, and next time you're in Rexburg...CALL ME CRAZY!!!
