BYU-Idaho's New Additions

{Why is it that I always leave right as the cool stuff is beginning?! It was the same in high school. They finished the new gym & auditorium the year I graduated. Lame.}

Anywho, today was my day off so I went with Thomas to Rexburg. While he was in class I played with my favorite Ezra and bestie, Kayleen. Afterwards we met up with his brother Steven and friend Melissa for a nice lunch in the new crossroads...

It's huge! There's a stage, tonnnns of seating, huge windows, great food! It's going to be great for the students there. I'm a little jealous, to say the least...

Next we toured the addition of the Manwaring Center...

This foyer is just outside the Crossroads and connects to the old ballrooms. Check out more exterior, and interior photos of the new MC and auditorium HERE.

Next we went over to the new BYU-Idaho Center to check out this space:

It was the one I was most excited for, but...it was locked. I guess they only unlock it for devotional and whatnot. All well. The foyer area of this building was beautiful too! The 2nd floor has huge paintings of Christ in a timeline from birth-death-resurrection, it reminded me of Temple Square's visitor centers.

For living in Rexburg for 5 years, and 4 of them being interrupted by construction everywhere, I'm impressed with the finished product! It really makes the university seem more professional and complete. The architecture company, FFKR, that designed the new additions and many of the buildings on campus, did a superb job! They not only thought about the needs for the students, but the functionality, and details of each space are incredible! Maybe one day I can work for them...maybe. :) {Their place in SLC is incredible too! I was blessed to visit it last spring on a field trip.}

For those who have graduated and haven't seen the new additions, I hope this gives you a little glimpse. Seriously look at the sites I pulled those photos from, they're are sweet! {Maybe next time I'll take some of my own photos of the neat details and share them with you! Yes?}

  2. It was super fun to hang out with you! And I totally agree about the school doing cool things when we leave :( It looks like a totally different school to me now. I mean, it just has a totally different, more college kinda feel. We'll just have to go back.

    (Thanks for the links by the way. totally makes me feel special!)
