Yesterday was my day off and as I'm sure you've all figured out, it's my day of cleaning and taking pictures. I spent the first half of my day off working {I know, I don't know how to take a break} and the second half of my day cleaning and decorating this lovely room...
...our family/tv/workout/misc room. It's downstairs as is our washer and dryer and storage space {through the hallway in the first picture.} It's a finished basement with painted walls and carpet, but it still seems a little basement-like. Thomas' grandparents kindly gave us the two lovely orange swivel rocking chairs as shown in above photo. This has really helped the room feel more homey. Before, if we wanted to enjoy a movie we would take the mattress of the sofa sleeper and drag it down there and cuddle under some warm blankets. {Ok, we still do that...it's very fun!}
As you can tell it's a work in progress. I'm going to hang some brown curtains on the window and hopefully come up with something for that blank wall. I've used all our wall decorations so it might be a while. If you have any easy/cheap ideas, please share!
So, tonight I had my first client consultation in the real design world. It was so much fun! There is a gentleman that is opening a cheese factory and asked us to design the retail part of the store. It might sound strange, but it's going to be so neat! I'll definitely be telling you about it...and probably posting pictures if they let me! ;) It's so nice to be doing design work again. Don't get me wrong, a home decor store is a fun place to work, but to have my head spinning with design ideas for a space again...it's like chicken soup for my design soul.

PS sorry about the really yellow pictures. I even tried to photoshop them, but they got worse. Any ideas on that would be helpful too {we have very little natural light down there...plus I took them at night. Maybe I just was asking for it...}

Love those orange chairs.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Photoshopping, I don't know if this differs by version, but do you see an option under Image that says Auto color? That usually works for me, but if not try finding Variations, and then click on More blue until it looks right to you. I hope this helps.
Look for a "white balance" setting, too.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same thing... white balance. You should have this setting in your camera menu, you just need to adjust it before you take the picture.
ReplyDeleteA cheese factory? That sounds interesting and fun! I will have to come in sometime and see what you guys are coming up with.
