MORP = PROM spelled backwards.
And that's exactly what it is: girl ask guy.
So I did. I asked him. I asked him to go out with me. Eeeeeee!
I waited and waited for a response. Almost two weeks later I got a phone call one night, asking me to stay up for just a little bit longer...
About 45 minutes later I answer the doorbell to find him standing on my porch in my favorite shirt of his. I was not expecting to see HIM standing there...I was picturing an object or a puzzle or something with the answer on it.
He stuck out his elbow, I laced my arm through his and let him escort me down the stairs. He had pulled his Rav-4 into the middle of my driveway and kept the car lights shining at the garage door. In front of the door were two chairs. A bar stool with a guitar leaning next to it and a camp chair filled with roses. He stopped me at the camp chair, handed me the flowers and asked me to take a seat. I sat, facing him as he took his place on the stool with his guitar.
He played a tune I had never heard of, but later found out it was "Wonderwall". He had changed the lyrics in response to my asking him to Morp...obviously replying with a "yes".
I was speechless. I'm pretty sure I sat blushing the entire time, trying to keep my heart from bursting out of my chest. It was the most romantic thing anyone had ever done for me, as you can imagine.

Since we were the ones planning the date, the girls decided to keep the Morp group date simple small with just three couples.
We picked up the boys in the early afternoon and ate lunch at the park near my house. After lunch, we played a little frisbee, threw a football around, and just hung out. It was pretty fun...although it did take nearly an hour for my nerves to calm down!
Since the theme for the dance was "Saddle Up Partner" we all agreed that we HAD to dress up in cowboy and cowgirl attire. The boys decided they would borrow boots and whatnot from Tyler's dad, so we dropped all three of them at Tyler's house after lunch and headed back to get ready for the dance and dinner.
Just to be random, we ordered take-out chinese and ate in our cowboy grub at Elyssa's house. We all devoured the amazing sweet and sour chicken and then headed into town to hit up the local dollar store for cowboy accessories. They must have known we were coming because they had pop-guns with refillable ammo ready for us. We loaded our holsters (belt-loops) and headed to the school for the dance.
We stayed for a couple of hours, danced a lot of slow dances (hehe) and even some swing dances! We chased each other around like care-free children with our fake guns and enjoyed every minute together. When we were worn out, we headed to the other local social gathering place in Blackfoot: Walmart.
There we got a half gallon of bunny tracks ice cream and a box of plastic spoons. Since the sun was down and the only lights on at Jensen's Grover were over the skate park, we climbed up a ramp and all sat at the top. One by one we took a spoonful of ice cream out of the container and passed it back and forth, from person to person, until it was gone.
After the ice cream we decided to run through the sprinklers on the way back to the car...because, why the heck not?!

I my journal I recorded many of these details and concluded with: "...I just had SO MUCH FUN! One of my favorite dates!"
(It still is to this day!)

Graduation took place a couple weeks later, and with tears in my eyes, I watched as Thomas crossed the stage reminiscing over the past couple of years.
That next day, as tradition, the seniors had pulled off their chosen senior prank and blocked every access to all of the school parking, making all of us students (who were still in school for a few days) park far, far away. Ironically I entered right where Thomas and Chris were standing guard...with huge water guns! Chris stopped me and Thomas drenched me. I could have cried, but I laughed. realizing that graduation didn't mark the end of our friendship after all...

ooh Caley! I so love reading your story like this... and this might be one of my most favorite chapters yet!
