CHAPTER 8 - PROM. AGAIN.

The next few months flew by and Prom time was upon us again. I kind of hoped Thomas would ask me, but after last year's falling-out, I didn't plan on it happening. Instead, I was given some play-dough, one day in the middle of a seminary class. After unscrambling the little paper letters mixed within the dough, my classmates and I figured out that I was being asked by one of Thomas best friends, Jordan Kesler.

I was excited to go to Prom again. I had been practicing and preparing for Jr. Miss (a scholarship pageant) for months and was excited to wear my beautiful, white, pageant dress to the dance...it was too pretty for just one night. ;)

For Prom's day portion of the date, three couples of us went to the zoo in Idaho Falls and afterwards had a picnic in the park. (The couples were: Jordan and I, Thomas Sellers and Elyssa Cunningam Kunz, and John Harper and Alisha Palmer Robison).

That night we joined with the other half of our party in Pocatello for dinner. I didn't realize that the other half of the group included Thomas, but I should've known. We ended up sitting right across from each other at dinner and as often as I dared, I glanced over at him. He looked so handsome in his white tuxedo...I just couldn't help it! Half-way through dinner, an older lady at the table next to us told her waiter it was her birthday. Thomas and John looked at each other, nodded, and got up and went over to her table. Together they tapped her on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me miss..." then proceeded to serenaded her with "You've lost that loving feeling," Top Gun style. She thought the duo was the best thing ever! Those of us at the Prom table were dying from laughter. It was priceless and hilarious!

After dinner we drove back to Blackfoot's gymnasium for the dance, pictures, and the announcement Prom royalty. I had been nominated a few weeks earlier and so when I got to the gym, I casually looked around for my parents. As tradition in Blackfoot, the parents of the royalty are called the day of Prom in case they are interested in coming for the announcements. I could hardly contain my excitement when I spied my mom in the rafters above the dance floor. Ironically Jordan was crowned Senior Prince and I was crowned Junior Princess...how fitting! We spent the next few songs dancing as Prince and Princess.

We then gathered our huge group together to get our pictures taken. They did a little better at organizing us this year versus last year. As you can tell by our picture...we were the most serious group there. Not. (Notice how both Thomas and I are in white? dun, dun, dun...)

I can't lie and say that I wasn't scheming a way to get myself dancing with Thomas that evening...but, it was not meant to be. Pretty quickly after pictures we had to head out in order to make the rounds and get all of the girls in our group back home in time for curfew.

Luckily there was one more dance before the school year ended...and I had an idea...
