TRYING TO...

listen instead of hear
laugh instead of cry
move a little more
eat a little less
be patient
trust more
smother in love
communicate my feelings
find beauty in everything
find beauty in everyone
capture the memories
be a better person
talk in a kinder tone
spend good, quality time with my husband
focus on what I have instead of what I don't
enjoy the moments for what they are
be excited for the future
drink more water
not waste time
smile more
write more
love more

Last night as I was getting ready for bed I decided to stop and actually look in the mirror. I mean, not the usual "look", but more of an "evaluation" of some sorts.

Quickly, I studied my face, particularly my eyes, maybe my soul. It got me thinking about the experiences of days past and recognizing the person they have created. All day I've been recalling this experience while thinking about the future, who I want to be and what my potential is.

I think personal evaluations are good every once in a while, to keep ourselves in check and focused. Not for selfish reasons, but to make sure we are gradually becoming that person we want to be.

I don't usually use mirrors as a source of evaluation...but the different perspective was new and welcoming. Maybe it will be a good source for you too!

And, hey, it's still January. And the word on the street is that resolutions can be restarted throughout the entire month. Sunday is the beginning of a new week...perfect timing! ;)
