Most of this semester has been focused on finding an interior design internship for this upcoming summer. My business class is specifically designed to assist us in this search. We were asked to put together a portfolio that included a cover letter, resume, and a preview of some of our projects. I really enjoyed putting this portfolio together. Below is a view of the front of my business card:

Since last summer I had my heart set on a kitchen and bath internship because that is the field in which I plan to pursue. I figured because I had done all that I possibly could in preparing and contacting this particular firm, that the Lord would bless me for my efforts. But, He had different plans for me. After being turned down from that particular firm and all the other kitchen and bath firms in the area, I began looking elsewhere. I called and emailed dozens of places in southeast Idaho, Boise, Salt Lake City, and Park City. Mostly because of the economy, no one would take me.
With only 3 weeks of school left I desperatly emailed friends and family for names to contact. Then it came to me, I needed to talk to the Deparmentt Head of the Interior Design Department for leads. He explained that the business he helps run on the side could use a couple of interns this summer. Although I was excited that he would take me as an intern, I was a little annoyed that I had spent months putting a portfolio together and contacting people to only be accepted by my teacher who didn't need to see all my hard work.
It took a couple days for me to realize that this is what the Lord had in mind. He knew that it would be virtually impossible to travel elsewhere with only one car. He knew that I needed to be home as much as possible to help take care of my hubby. He knew that in order to be able to work at my other job, I needed to be here.
It was a very humbling and great learning experience and I'm grateful for all those who took the time to help me find an internship. Thank you for your work and prayers and love. Know that I have finally landed one and I will be where I'm supposed to be.
I bet that that is such is relief- even if it wasn't what you orignally wanted. Good for you though!
